100 New Street Trees Coming Next WeekTweet
Hoboken, NJ - Wednesday, May 11th, 2011
Mayor Dawn Zimmer thanks the student volunteers from the Stevens Institute of Technology environmental club SAVE who helped clear two tree pits last weekend in preparation for a city-wide tree planting. Beginning on Monday, May 16, the City will plant more than 100 trees over 7 days to fill empty tree pits identified by the Hoboken Shade Tree Commission.
The Taco Truck is working with the Quality of Life Coalition and is donating 10% of their profits from April to purchase 50 trees. The City is matching that donation with an additional 50 trees, and plans to purchase another 100 trees in the fall in order to fill all empty tree pits in Hoboken.
