Rescheduled: Community Meeting for Elysian Park ImprovementsTweet
Hoboken, NJ - Wednesday, December 19th, 2012
A community meeting previously scheduled for October 30th has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 20th at the Hoboken Historical Museum (1301 Hudson Street) to solicit input from the public on improvements to Elysian Park. Residents are invited to attend any time between 7pm and 9pm.
In addition to attending the community meeting, residents can also submit their feedback via an online survey available at www.hobokennj.org/elysianpark.
The City of Hoboken has been awarded $600,000 in Green Acres fundingfor improvements to Elysian Park.
Year of the Parks Update
To date, renovations and repairs have been completed at Jackson Street Park, Jefferson Park, Legion Park, Madison Street Park, the waterfront skate park, and Mama Johnson Field. Work to upgrade a playground area and basketball courts has begun at Church Square Park. Construction is underway to rebuild Sinatra Field and Castle Point Park on the waterfront. In addition, construction will begin soon on Phase 1 of 1600 Park and Hoboken Cove, which will include a multi-use field, lighting, bleachers and leaning rails, a dog run, restrooms, bike racks, and a slide hill and viewing mound. The Little League Field at Stevens Park will be resurfaced using a $250,000 Hudson County Open Space grant. Batting cages will also be installed. The City is also in the process of acquiring land for a Southwest Park.
