Mayor Zimmer Calls Special Meeting For Vote on Flood Pump

Hoboken, NJ - Thursday, February 19th, 2015

Mayor Dawn Zimmer has called for a special meeting of the Hoboken City Council to allow all members of the Council to vote on the H-5 wet weather pump station which would alleviate flooding in Western Hoboken. The meeting will take place in City Hall Council Chambers on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 7:00pm.

On Wednesday, February 18, 2015, the City Council voted 5 to 2 in favor of a resolution to move forward with financing the pump, however 6 votes are needed as a requirement of the New Jersey Local Bond Law in order to finance the project with a low-interest loan provided through the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust program.

Council Members Bhalla, Cunningham, Doyle, Giattino, and Mello voted in favor of the resolution, while Council Members Castellano and Mason voted against the resolution. Councilmembers Occhipinti and Russo were not in attendance at the meeting.
