Mike Lenz
A proud resident of Hoboken most of his adult life, Michael ‘Mike’ Lenz has served our city as Board of Education Trustee and President, Interim CFO, active citizen, and now Fourth Ward City Councilman. Mike and his wife Laura Keating are proud parents to three young sons, Ben, Tim, and Jonny.
Professionally, Mike has worked as a CPA, Financial Vice President, and Municipal CFO. He currently serves as Facility Manager and Unit Chief responsible for budget and operations for 15 buildings at Hudson County’s Meadowview Complex. Mike received his BA in Economics from Michigan State University, studied Taxation at NYU’s Stern School, and completed the 8 course sequence – sponsored by Rutgers – required to sit for the Certified Municipal Finance Officer exam. He successfully passed that exam and now holds the New Jersey CMFO designation.
In his public service as elected official, employee, and now Councilman, Mike has always been passionate in his belief that governments can and must serve the public efficiently. “Government has great responsibilities, from ensuring a safe city for all, to providing recreational opportunities and safe places to play, to making decisions that will define our city for generations to come” Mike says. “Unless we ensure efficiency in all we do, we will never be able to fulfill our obligations at a price we can afford.”
