Open Space Acquisition and Development
1600 Park and Hoboken Cove Parks
The City has acquired funding and conducted environmental remediation for two large sites at the north end of Hoboken for development as parks and open space. The sites are 1600 Park , the area between Park and Willow Avenues north of 16th Street, and Hoboken Cove, the area east of Park Avenue to the waterfront north of 15th Street. Learn more.
The City is working with the 9/11 Memorial Committee to complete bid specifications and finalize details for the permanent memorial at Pier A. It is expected to go out to bid in the spring of 2012 and will be ready for construction. In the interim, a display with information on the design and plans for the memorial will be installed at the location. Learn more.
In 2009, a portion of Sinatra Park and Castle Point walkway, including the structure under Sinatra Field, collapsed. The City is working to restore this site to usable condition. Learn more.
Potential Park Acquisition
The Hoboken City Council, at their March 16, 2011 meeting, adopted a bond ordinance for acquisition of additional park land in the City of Hoboken. The City is pursuing the acquisition of additional park space based on the Open Space Plan recommendations. Learn more.
Park Repairs & Redesign
The Hoboken City Council, at their March 16, 2011 meeting, adopted a bond ordinance for repairs to existing parks throughout the City. This infusion of $1.6 million dollars in park improvements and repairs will certainly improve the quality of life of the residents in Hoboken. Learn more.
