This department plans and executes a wide range of community events throughout the year to promote the Arts, theater, family and music activities. Our diverse programming is designed to appeal to the entire community
and bring people together. We also provide assistance to local organizations for their annual Hoboken events.

 

Spring Arts & Music Festival 2012

Sunday, May 6, 2012
Washington St. bet. Observer Hwy. & 7th St.

Featuring three stages of live music, over 300 artists, sculptors, photographers
and craftspeople and lots of activities for children. Applications are currently available.

Free Outdoor Movie Screenings overlooking the beautiful Hudson River. Takes place at Pier A Park, on the park’s Great Lawn. Located on First St. & Frank Sinatra Drive.  New Schedule for 2012 TBD.

 

Concerts in the Park - 2012 Schedule TBD These FREE Outdoor Summer Performances will be held Thursday evenings at 7 pm in the Amphitheater at Sinatra Park, located on Frank Sinatra Dr. between 4th & 5th Streets.

Fitness in the Park 2012 Schedule TBD.
Mondays in Pier A Park on the east end of the lawn Sinatra Dr. & First St. 7pm to 8pm,
Get in shape by trying something new and different each week. Free classes presented by local fitness establishments. Wear loose fitting clothes and sneakers. Bring mat if needed and water.

Spaghetti Dinner Block Party  – Date TBD,
Takes place along the walkway on Sinatra Drive bet. 1st & 2nd Streets. Lots of great food, live music & family atmosphere. Tickets available at City Hall in the Cultural Affairs Office, 2nd floor. 5pm to 8pm

Yoga in the Park   - 2012 Schedule TBD. 
Free Yoga classes at Pier A Park, First St. & Sinatra Drive Tuesday nights in June, July & August from 7pm to 8pm Wear loose fitting clothing & bring your own mat and water. Dates TBD Sponsored by Devotion Yoga.

Family Fun Nights -  2012 Schedule TBD.
Tuesday nights in June, July & Aug. from 7pm to 8pm; Outdoor performances specific to children, held at Shipyard Park, located at 13th Street & McFeeley Drive behind the King’s Supermarket; Sponsored by The Applied Companies

Sinatra Idol Contest – Date TBD,

These FREE Outdoor Performances will be held at two distinct waterfront parks. Select viewings take place in the Shipyard Park, located at 13th Street & McFeeley Drive. (behind Kings Supermarket) as well as at the Frank Sinatra Park Amphitheater located on Franks Sinatra Drive between 4th and 5th Streets.

Artists Studio Tour 2011 -
Sat. & Sun. Nov. 3rd & 4th, 2012; noon to 6pm
Free self-guided walking tour of artists’ studios and community gallery spaces.
Tour guides will be available at City Hall on the day of the tour, Located at 94 Washington St.

Kayaking Days - Schedule for 2012 TBA
Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse in partnership with the City of Hoboken and Downtown Boathouse of New York City will host free Kayaking Days throughout the summer at Maxwell Place Park near the intersection of Sinatra Drive and Maxwell Place. Click link for Schedule

Harvest Festival
Sat., Oct. 27, 2012, 11am to 3pm, Pier A Park
Lots of free activities for children including pumpkin painting, hay rides, pony rides & more

Ragamuffin Parade - Wednesday, Oct. 31st, 2012,
To participate: Line of march setup for the parade is on Washington St. bet. 12th & 13th Streets
beginning at 3:30pm; parade begins at 4:00pm; Parade will feature bands, floats and more.
Followed by a costume contest at Little League Field on 5th St. & River Terrace.
Prizes awarded in five age categories.

In an effort to help promote the arts and the efforts of local arts groups & businesses, Mayor Dawn Zimmer & the City of Hoboken are creating an Arts Resource Guide for Hoboken. There is no charge to sign up, and the information will be available for free on the City’s website. Whether you are an artist, crafter, musician, writer, actor, theatre group, etc, this is a great way to market what you do and a great way to promote the arts. Citywide Yard Sale & Flea Market at Church Square Park Saturday, May 21st, 2011, 9am to 4pm; Takes place all over Hoboken. Click on the Yard Sale link above for a list of participating locations.
