The City of Hoboken is the proud birthplace of baseball and is committed to promoting the joy of sports through our diverse youth sports programs. The City in partnership with local businesses and the Police Athletic League offer sports program year round.

Athletic Programs

Registration Requirements

Register online or bring the following items to the Department of Recreation, located at 124 Grand Street (2nd floor), to register your child for any of the following sports programs. For all sports programs, the age cut-off is August 1st of that year.

  1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate
  2. Three proofs of residency (i.e. utility bill, insurance card, driver’s license, etc.)

Players should supply their own mitts and cleats.

Hoboken Cubs: 2012 Babe Ruth Champions
The Hoboken Cubs became the Babe Ruth 2012 champions when they defeated the Hoboken Indians 4-3 in a pitching duel between Riley Conlin of the Cubs and Anthony Colegrove of the Indians. This thrilling game was decided in extra innings (bottom of the 8th inning). The winning run was scored from a play at the plate.

Table Tennis

There are 6 tables where you can play absolutely free at the Multi Service Center. This fantastic sport is great for people of all ages and at all skill levels.

Where: Multi-Service Center Gym (Ground Floor)
When: Tuesday and Thursday – 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

  • No fee required.
  • All skill levels welcomed.
  • Balls and Paddles available.
  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Hoboken PAL Wrestling Practice Schedule
When: 1st day of practice/registration – December 4, 2013 at 5:00pm
December 4 – February 27 (except December 24, January 1)
Wednesday: 5:30-6:30pm
Thursday: 5:30-6:30pm
Where: EDGE School of Wrestling, 417 Newark St, 2nd Floor, Hoboken (located above Hoboken Car Wash, enter on Newark Ave side)

Competition Schedule: Matches are currently being scheduled; dates are not yet finalized. Competitions are Saturdays and Sundays, January-February. Parents will be informed of match dates in December via email.

Two home matches will be held at Stevens Institute of Technology (Dates TBD)
