Although the City has a history dating back to the journey of Henry Hudson's "Half Moon," Hoboken was incorporated as a city on March 28, 1855 under the leadership of Mayor Cornelius V. Clickener. Grand celebrations marked the community's 50th and 100th anniversary celebrations. Last year, Mayor Roberts, in conjunction with the Hoboken Historical Museum, mailed residents a complimentary copy of "A Walking Tour of Hoboken," the hour-long PBS special, which aired last year, and invited community members to volunteer for the Sesquicentennial Celebration. Dozens of residents took the offer and are assisting in arranging various sub-committee events.
